The New Year starts this Friday. Everyone is talking about what they will and won't do in 2010. As always, you hear the same old, same old about how one is going to get on a diet, or shed those holiday pounds.
Well this year, I want everyone to mean it!
What is your fitness goal this year?
To lose pounds? To tone up? To just eat healthier?
Now, I can truly tell you that a healthy diet and exercise is great. You feel better when you eat right and workout. I can tell you that it's really not that bad to change some of your habits once you put your mind to it.
Therefore, I want to do a fitness challenge . Not just a "It's a New Year's resolution that really won't last longer than 2 weeks, but it'll make me feel better if I say that I did it" challenge. No. You need to make a commitment to yourself to get YOU into the best possible shape you can be in.
There will be some sacrifice. Maybe even some tears due to separation anxiety. But it will all be worth it. AND I'm going to do it with you.
First thing's first: Know your body situation.
How much you weigh, your measurements, if your knee clicks when you try to jog. All of that. This way you know what you're working with. You can set realistic goals.
Also, I'm not a doctor, so if you go out there and break your neck, you can't sue me because I told you that I don't know what I'm doing.
Second: No more Funyuns!
You're going to have to throw out all your junk foods and your other guilty pleasures. They WILL call you in the middle of the night to get you to fall off the wagon. I KNOW this. Or maybe I'm just hearing voices and probably should be on some meds for that. Nevertheless!
The food thing scares a lot of people. What I had to learn was to make alternative choices. I'll talk more about that in a future post. You also don't have to completely deprive yourself. You just have to pay attention to WHAT you're eating. Since most of us don't have that will power, we'll have to come back to that at a later date.
Third: You DO have to exercise.
If I see one more info-mercial on some pill that essentially makes you poo out all of the crap you ate, but you can still eat crud to lose weight, I'm going to scream. If you want to lose weight, or tighten up, you HAVE to workout. You have to engage in some kind of activity. Even if it's a walk around your neighborhood daily. You have to do it.
This means you need the proper attire to do such. This is primarily a fashion blog, so I will be talking about what to wear to work out in. If you don't join a gym, you're going to have to workout at home. Which means you may have to buy some other things. Don't worry, Walmart has a lot of this stuff on the cheap to get you started. Again, more on that later.
Okay, hopefully this post has your brains going. Set your goals. Write them down. Stay tuned for more.
You have 4 days left in the year to indulge in this:
